Southern Prince George's County Community Charities, Inc. (SPGCCC)  proudly serves our community with love and determination to improve the quality of life for Prince George’s County, MD residents, by providing education initiatives that promote self-reliance, self-empowerment, and self-determination.

Numerous social disparities impact the residence of southern Prince Georges County, Maryland including lack of insurance or access to healthcare, high unemployment rate and food insecurity. Secondary to access to healthcare, compounded by the lack of insurance, many residents suffer from chronic medical conditions such as cardiovascular disease, hypertension, and diabetes. In addition while the county has a high school graduation rate of more than 90% only 34.4% of its residents have bachelors degree or higher. These challenges can lead to additional problems for the county citizens, including increase crime and incarceration.

SPGCCC  aims to help the residents in our service area across all generations, as the challenges highlighted identify needs from childhood to old age. Unfortunately, community services within the Fort Washington area are limited and the number of people requiring community assistance is vast. Therefore, our organization implements programs to close the gap between the need and availability of resources. Yet despite our best efforts, there’s still the opportunity to provide and do more.

For more than 20 years, SPGCCC has provided community service, from giving scholarships to deserving high school students to conducting an annual warm nights event with a local church. Again providing what the community needs at the required time is no small task. The members of SPGCCC volunteer their time and resources to address the needs.   We are working with Jacob's Ladder Foundation and the Buffalo Soldiers  to establish a vocational program for designated at risk youths in which they will be taught by licensed craftsmen in fields such as carpentry, electrical works, and other hands on, lucrative, much needed fields.

Over the last two decades, SPGCCC  has grown in its ability to support the community.  We have grown from awarding $1,000 in scholarships in the first year to awarding $30,000 in 2022.  We have awarded over $200,000 in scholarships. SPGCCC still maintains its longest-standing community service project, protecting the environment by helping to keep a portion of Fort Washington, MD clean through the County’s “Adopt A Road” program. During the height of COVID-19, SPGCCC partnered with the White Rose Foundation to fill the food pantry at a local senior apartment complex.

While SPGCCC and its members can serve the community, your donations would be extremely helpful in closing the gap between the need of resources and availability of resources to the citizens of the community.
